Stars of the African and international music industry went out in force on Saturday for the fifth edition of the MTV Africa Music Awards. Nigeria again dominated this year’s MTV Africa Music Awards, MAMA, carting away most of the coveted trophies.
Leading the way was Davido, who retained his title as Africa’s Best male Artiste of the year. He won the same award last year. The Aye crooner beats his South African counterpart, AKA, Diamond from Tanzania, Ghanaian Sarkodie and Wizkid to clinch the trophy.

Rapper Young Thug and Birdman allegedly plotted to kill Lil Wayne

Cash Money CEO Bryan 'Birdman' Williams, rapper Young Thug and other members of their entourage have been named in an indictment alleging they conspired to kill rapper Lil Wayne over a business dispute.

Channel 2 Action News has uncovered an indictment filed in Cobb County in June that alleges Williams and another rapper named Bryan Williams, aka Birdman, were involved in a RICO conspiracy to kill Lil Wayne when his tour bus was shot up in April. The indictment also says all of the men are members of the Bloods gang.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday said Nigeria needs sacrifices to overcome its present challenges and repair the damage done by bad governance.

The President made the call in his Eid-el-Fitr message to Nigerians.

The sacrifices, he said, are needed to accelerate the pace of national development in the country.

Buhari said: “Although we have come to the end of this year’s Ramadan, I believe that a greater acceptance by Nigerians of its key lessons of self-denial and sacrifice will serve our dear country well as we strive to overcome our present challenges, undo the damage done by years of bad governance and accelerate the pace of national development.
